Old Line Spirits Gives Back to Fellow Veterans

OCTOBER 17, 2022 – Old Line Spirits is commemorating Veterans Day by supporting the sacrifice of veterans, military members and their families through partnerships with several military-related programs. Founded by Navy veterans Mark McLaughlin and Arch Watkins, the distillery is partnering with Fisher House Foundation, Baltimore Station and the Warrior Music Foundation.

“The Navy brought us together as a team and is a big part of how we operate as a company,” said McLaughlin. “Being able to support the organizations who help military members and their families will always be important to us.”

This will be the second year of a campaign supporting Fisher House Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides comfort homes where military and veterans family members can stay for free while their loved ones receive medical care. Homes are located near VA hospitals and medical care centers throughout the United States and around the world. Through Dec. 31, 2022, $5 will be donated from each bottle of Old Line Spirits’ American Single Malt Whiskey and American Single Malt Whiskey Cask Strength purchased at participating retailers in Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Old Line Spirits also supports Baltimore Station, an innovative therapeutic residential and outpatient treatment program supporting veterans who are overcoming obstacles to regain self-sufficiency. The distillery has hosted several fundraisers to support the nonprofit and its programs.

Another Maryland-based organization the distillery supports is the Warrior Music Foundation including its Warriors in the Park concert held in September. The Warrior Music Foundation supports active duty military, veterans and their families by providing a venue for learning, healing and camaraderie using music, with a goal of improving mental health in the military community. The foundation offers free music therapy and music lessons in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

The Tailhook Educational Foundation is also a recipient of Old Line Spirits’ ongoing generosity. The foundation scholarship program awards over 100 scholarships annually. These grants assist the children and grandchildren of former and current naval aviators and aircrewmen as well as aircraft carrier-based personnel studying in the many fields of college undergraduate education.

About Old Line Spirits:

Some stories are better told over whiskey — like the story behind Old Line Spirits. Mark McLaughlin and Arch Watkins met in the Navy flying EA-6B Prowlers, ended up stationed in the same reserve squadron in Baltimore, and embarked on civilian careers after retiring from the Navy. But when you’ve spent decades flying off aircraft carriers and being stationed all over the world, a desk job isn’t enough. The solution? Whiskey. American Single Malt, to be exact. In 2015, they connected with the owners of Golden Distillery, two Vietnam vets looking to pass the torch. Their tutelage and equipment was the start of Old Line Spirits. McLaughlin and Watkins opened Old Line Spirits in 2017 with plenty of distillery space, a courtyard bar and The Ready Room, Maryland’s first full beer, wine and spirits cocktail bar in a distillery. They produce American Single Malt whiskeys and aged Caribbean rums. Old Line Spirits products are currently available in Maryland; Washington, D.C.; Delaware; Massachusetts; New Jersey; New York and Colorado. Online ordering and delivery to states where permitted. For more information, visit oldlinespirits.com and check out Facebook and Instagram.
