New Augmented Reality Exhibition at National Army Museum

MAY 1, 2026 — “American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition,” presented by The Army Historical Foundation, opened at the National Museum of the United States Army in Fairfax County, Virginia on April 25. Designed and produced by the French company Histovery, the exhibition uses larger-than-life displays, augmented reality and Histopad® portable tablets to drop visitors into 360-degree recreations of key historical moments that helped forge American democracy 250 years ago, all validated by recognized experts. Visitors can explore pivotal events such as the Boston Tea Party, the Constitutional Convention, and the Battle of Yorktown; step into historic cities including Boston, Philadelphia, and New York; and encounter the diverse individuals who shaped America’s founding. The Army Historical Foundation, the official Foundation of the U.S. Army-owned and operated Museum, will support the traveling exhibition’s display through the end of 2027.

“The Army Historical Foundation was eager to work with the team at Histovery to provide Americans and visitors from around the world with a fresh and engaging way to rediscover how our nation was born,” said retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Burt Thompson, president of The Army Historical Foundation. “We are especially grateful to the supporters of The Army Historical Foundation who continue to make it possible for us to present the lessons of Army history in new and expansive ways.”

The Foundation is presenting the exhibit with the generous support of Lead Sponsors The Ruby W. and LaVon P. Linn Foundation and Diana Davis Spencer Foundation. Their gifts will play a significant role in the operation and promotion of the exhibition. With their support, the exhibition will appear at the National Army Museum for its longest run anywhere in the world and be open to all visitors, free-of-charge.

The Foundation’s Supporting Sponsors donate gifts that are matched to one the exhibition’s time portals, enabling visitors to virtually travel back to a key event in early American history. Ms. Jacqueline Trefry contributed the largest individual gift, sponsoring two time portals. The Foundation is also grateful to the significant gifts made by Supporting Sponsors: The Eisiminger Family; Patricia Simmons-Marquiss and Scott Marquiss; former Army Captain Stephen Mercer; U.S. Army and Army Reserve veteran Rudy R. Miller; and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Lawrence King Casey, Jr.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for corporations, foundations and individuals who wish to support this innovative exhibition technology, transforming how visitors experience and engage with history. Sponsorships also make it possible to offer these experiences to visitors as part of the Museum’s free admission. Those wishing to donate may contact donor.relations@armyhistory.org.
