How To Shape a Military Beret

Simple Steps in order to fit and conform your beret to your head. Everyone’s head isn’t shaped or sized the same, so read below the steps in order to conform it comfortably to your size head.

Step 1: Using a cigarette lighter, or a pair of scissors, burn or snip off all of the “fuzz” off of the beret.

Then, wet the beret and shave off the inside and outside lining using a sharp razor to ensure the wool has a soft and smooth surface.

After shaving the liner to a smooth finish, soak the beret in warm water until fully emerged. This will allow the material to stretch easier to conform to your head.

Put the beret on your head and form it to fit comfortably. Most of the beret’s material should be pulled down so it drapes right over the right ear. The cardboard stiffener should be centered over the left eye so the headband is about two finger-widths above the eyebrow.

Lastly, you can dry the beret either by wearing it until it dries, or you can put it in the freezer. Simple steps to getting the right fit for your beret.
