By Lori Mezoff

Redstone Arsenal, Alabama — The U.S. Army announced today that it has launched America’s Army Comics, a free iPad and Android tablet app for viewing issues of the America’s Army comic series. The app, which can be downloaded from iTunes (http://bit.ly/NkcahT) and from Google Play (http://bit.ly/ScK4FS), explores the storyline behind America’s Army.

Created by the same team that produces the highly successful America’s Army PC games, America’s Army Comics offers a groundbreaking digital comic reading experience highlighted by revolutionary animated panels, authentic sound effects and bold musical scores. Exclusive to the app is a feature for learning more about the U.S. Army by browsing through the interactive Intel section that showcases characters, state-of-the-art gear, technology, weapons, aircraft and more.

Offering an extremely authentic Army experience, the series is created jointly with U.S. Army Soldiers who check every aspect from the storyline plot points down to the most minute details of a Soldier’s equipment. Focusing on Soldiers’ missions, personal stories, tactics, values and jobs (or Military Occupational Specialties), the series also features high-tech hardware and weapons platforms and the vast network of support on which Soldiers rely.

This episodic and interactive comic book app comes preloaded with the premiere issue of the series, “Knowledge Is Power.” The series follows the epic saga of courageous U.S. Soldiers deployed to the war torn region of Czervenia, which serves as the main battlegrounds in the America’s Army Games.

The America’s Army comic series is produced by Michael Barnett and written by M. Zachary Sherman (Radical Studio’s Shrapnel). It features the artistic talents of Michael Penick (BOOM! Studios’ Insurection), Matt Hebb (Arcana’s Harry Walton, Henchman for Hire), and series regular Scott Brooks (Moonstone’s The Phantom) as well as coloring by Jim Brown (IDW’s G.I. Joe and Transformers), with lettering by Marshall Dillon (Dynamite Entertainment’s Voltron).
