Army Ten-Miler Race Registration Open Now

WASHINGTON (April 30, 2013) — The Army’s annual Army Ten-Miler race is gearing up for this year’s 29th edition, starting Oct. 20, at the Pentagon. Registration will be a two-phase process (Priority & General) again this year and will take place online at www.armytenmiler.com.

Priority registration opened May 1, at 12:01 a.m. for all U.S. service members and runners who have participated in seven or more Army Ten-Miler races. Ten thousand of the total 35,000 entries are reserved for priority registration on a first-come, first-served basis. U.S. service members must use a “.mil” email address to register.

Army Ten-Miler Runners who have run seven or more races can go to the searchable database on the Army Ten-Miler Website to verify priority registration qualification.

General registration will open May 15 at 12:01 a.m. for the general public. Last year’s general registration session sold out in nine hours, so runners are encouraged to register early.

Race officials have also announced that this year’s runner field will increase from 30,000 to 35,000.

“The popularity of the Army’s race continues to grow and we felt that we could operationally handle an incremental increase in the runner field,” commented Jim Vandak, race director. “This gives more runners an opportunity to run but we expect to sell out again this year so runners are encouraged to register early.”

Registration for the Army Ten-Miler Youth Runs also opened May 1, online at www.armytenmiler.com. The Army Ten-Miler Youth Runs are conducted immediately after the Army Ten-Miler race, and the 100m and 200m runs have a combined cap of 400 participants.

ABOUT THE ARMY TEN-MILER

The Army’s 29th annual Army Ten Miler race is produced by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. This prestigious race attracts 35,000 military and civilian runners from around the world. It is the third largest 10-mile race in the world, and all proceeds benefit Soldier and Soldier family MWR programs.

The Army Ten-Miler event also features a two-day Army Ten-Miler Expo, presented by Boeing, on October 18 & 19 at the DC Armory. The expo hosts over 75 exhibitors and attracts 40,000 attendees. Race day activities include a “world-class” race with elite athletes, live music, youth activities, and the popular “Hooah Tent Zone,” which features interactive displays and exhibits by Army installations from around the world.
