Opportunities for Spouses: SECO and MyCAA Scholarship

SEPTEMBER 16, 2022 – Are you a military spouse looking to advance your education or career? Then the Military One Source Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program (SECO) and My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) scholarship may be the right start for you!

The Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program offers free coaching, information, and resources to military spouses for career and education exploration and readiness.

SECO has tools and opportunities available for spouses of all ranks such as the Military One Source Spouse Career Center, MyCAA Scholarship, and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. You can visit SECO at https://myseco.militaryonesource.mil/portal/ or call 800-342-9647.

“It’s difficult to maintain a career or find a job with all the frequent PCS moves, so the MyCAA program focuses on what we call portable careers that can move with you,” said Debra Roane, New Mexico Military One Source state consultant. “The Spouse Education and Career Opportunities Program is not just the scholarship, but tons of resources for spouse career and education opportunities.”

The MyCAA Scholarship is program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses.

The scholarship assists military spouses in pursuit or maintenance of a license, certification, or associates degree at any approved institution. To be eligible, you must be the spouse of an active duty service member in the pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2, and O-1 to O-2, you must have successfully completed high school and have the ability to request tuition assistance while your military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders.

Spouses of National Guard and Reserve military members are also eligible.

“I work with Military OneSource after all these years because, back then we didn’t have programs like this,” said Debra. “One of my biggest concerns as a military spouse was, every time we moved, I was basket case because I was afraid I wasn’t going to find a job. These programs would have been so helpful.”

To establish an account with MyCAA Scholarship, spouses can visit the MyCAA website at: https://mycaa.militaryonesource.mil/mycaa to provide spouse profile information. All scholarship participants are required to use DS Logon to access your account. More information on creating a DS Logon account can be found on the MyCAA “Resources” page at: https://mycaa.militaryonesource.mil/mycaa/resources .

If you would like more information regarding MyCAA, SECO, or any other Military One Source program, please visit the Military One Source page at www.militaryonesource.mil or contact Debra Roane at 505-241-9688 or Debra.roane@militaryonesource.com .
