JUNE 2, 2026 — The U.S. Army has met its fiscal year 2026 recruiting goals for active duty, signing contracts with more than 61,500 future Soldiers – four months before the end of the fiscal year. This achievement is testament the continued efforts by U.S. Army Recruiting Division Recruiters to attract the best and brightest to join America’s most lethal fighting force.
Through innovative outreach, enhanced career incentives, and a focus on critical technical skills, the U.S. Army has successfully met its enlistment targets, ensuring a fully manned and highly capable force ready to meet complex global security challenges.
“I’m incredibly proud of our U.S. Army Recruiters,” said Brig. Gen. Sara Dudley, USARD commanding general. “Their dedication to recruiting the best, most qualified talent is the reason we achieved this momentous milestone.”
These 61,500 men and women, who are choosing to serve their nation, represent the best of America. As the nation gears up to celebrate 250 years of independence, these future Soldiers continue the legacy of courage and honor.
“The men and women who chose to serve are our nation are actively showing their commitment to something larger than themselves,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Danny Basham, USARD command sergeant major. “The nation depends on their strength, character and commitment.”
USARD was activated less than a year ago in August of 2025 as part of a transformational split with U.S. Army Recruiting Command. While USARD is solely focused on the Army’s enlisted recruiting mission, USAREC oversees the entirety of the Force Generation Pipeline consisting of marketing, recruiting, high school JROTC and college ROTC, and transforming civilians into Soldiers through initial military training.
