Airmen Complete Air-to-Air Integration Training

A U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle from the 159th Fighter Wing flies alongside a B-52H Stratofortress during air-to-air integration training, April 29, 2025. The training enhanced interoperability between active-duty and Air National Guard aircrews, reinforcing their ability to operate as a cohesive force in complex airspace. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt. MAY 2, 2025 – The 2nd Bomb Wing, assigned to the Air Force Global Strike Command under Eighth Air Force, and the Louisiana National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing demonstrated enhanced interoperability and strengthened their operational capabilities during a combined air-to-air integration training event April 29.

The training culminated in an operational survey of the Louisiana Army National Guard’s Lake Charles Readiness Center at Chennault International Airport.

The in-flight training provided valuable experience in total force integration and agile combat employment concepts, with B-52 and F-15 crews sharpening their ability to operate together in contested environments.

The training event showcased active-component Airmen, Louisiana National Guardsmen and community partners from Chennault working side by side to advance national defense objectives.

After the flight operations, leadership from both units convened at Chennault to assess the Lake Charles Readiness Center’s potential to support future training events.

Chennault offers a unique combination of runway length and aircraft parking space suitable for B-52 missions, making it a valuable location to conduct dispersed operations.

Attendees included Col. Michael Maginness, 2nd Bomb Wing commander; Col. David Anderson, 159th Fighter Wing commander; and other key leaders from the 2nd Bomb Wing, 159th Fighter Wing and Louisiana National Guard.

Discussions focused on expanding joint training opportunities and building on the momentum of this successful integration. The hospitality of Chennault International Airport and the Lake Charles community played a vital role in enabling this effort, reflecting the strong civil-military partnership that underpins mission success.

The combined capabilities of the B-52 and F-15 represent a powerful and flexible deterrent force prepared to address a wide range of national security challenges. This collaboration underscores the commitment of these organizations to ensuring readiness and interoperability in the face of evolving global security challenges.
