Top 7 Military Colleges In The U.S.

JUNE 14, 2022 – There are many factors to consider when selecting a perfect military college, especially in countries like the United States. The USA is home to the strongest force in the world, so the military sector of the nation is active. There are many academies where students can enroll to start their studies while also carrying out military duties.

Also, there are different levels of military colleges in the States, from high school to college and general graduate level. If you happen to be an aspiring military student looking for the perfect college, then you just found the ideal article to dead.

Here are the top military colleges in the U.S.

1.  United States Military Academy

Located in West Point, New York, USMA is known for being the oldest military institution in the US and one of the best military service academies in the US.

This military Academy is a four-year service institution that focuses on the production of cadets in all arms of the military. With a perfect focus on physical activities and academic sessions, USMA has produced some of the best senior military personnel in the US. Also, they have the most extensive alumni base in the country.

2.  US Naval Academy

Like the USMA, the US Naval Institution is a four-year academy that conveys a Bachelor’s degree just like every other college. However, what makes this Academy different is the ranking system, as successful graduates of this college automatically become midshipmen.

Located in Annapolis, Maryland, this institution follows STEM, so only students in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics can enroll. This move, of course, is to improve the technical workforce in the department of the US Military.

3.  US Merchant Marine Academy

The USMMA is one of the USA’s major military training service academies. Founded in 1943 in King’s Point, New York, this college is one of the most demanding colleges in the world, known for training corps and throwing different intellectual challenges at senior military cadets.

Like most service academies, the US Marine Academy provides a perfect combination of educational and physical exercises, producing quality class marine corps in the country.

4.  The US Coast Guard Academy

Despite being one of the smallest federal service institutions, the US Coast Guard Academy has produced a lot of legendary officers.

The college offers eight majors, with a curriculum that mixes physical exercises, leadership, and academics. With an acceptance rating of about 17%, enrolling in the institution is quite competitive.

5.  The US Air Force Academy

The US is home to one of the strongest forces worldwide, and the US Air Academy is one of the institutions behind this success. Founded in 1954 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this Academy is a four-year institution that offers Bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences, Physical Studies, Humanities, Engineering, Military Studies, and other fields of study.

All cadets take the normal school curriculum of US colleges, alongside exercises for progression to the military industry. Upon completion, these graduates then receive real military-based ranks with complete medals.

6.  Norwich University (Military College of Vermont)

Established in 1819, MCV offers a lot of degree programs, as well as intense exercises for aspiring soldiers. Also, this institution has one of the broadest coverage as a military institute in America.

Students can enroll in any course from the liberal arts to education, business, social sciences, technology, and more. What sets this school apart from the others is the availability of distance learning programs.

Online learning is no longer new, so more universities are embracing this form of study. Norwich Uni is one of the places with an active online learning department where students can bag major online degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, and certificate levels.

With an acceptance rating of up to 60%, gaining admission into MCV is significantly easier than most schools on this list.

7.  Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets

Known as the military department of the student body of Virginia Military Polytechnic Institute, The Tech Corps of Cadets also makes it to this list. The history of this institution dates far back to the 1870s in Blacksburg, Virginia, and they have remained active to date.

Like most institutions on this list, this school is a four-year college focused on producing commissioned officers in all the arms of the US via the Military-Leader Track program. Also, students of this program are eligible for ROTC scholarships, which give them access to several bonuses and credit offers, as well as special study grants. Though the program is competitive, many trainees have passed with good records, and the acceptance rate is moderate.

What You Need To Know About Military-Based Universities

Most soldiers wait to apply to military-based Universities after the completion of their training service. However, this misconception is inaccurate, as you can earn your degree or certificate program anywhere and time today. Moreover, many online military university programs are available today, and with the advent of software like Zoom and other study-aid assistants, distance learning is significantly easier. Some military bases already offer these online classes, and these study tools are utilized in partnership with the major military-oriented universities.

Conclusion

From the texts above, you can confirm that there are many world-class institutions in America. While most institutions feature competitive acceptance rates, students with excellent academic performances can always enroll without hassle. While many other military institutions in the US, the ones mentioned here are some of the most reputable. Thus, they all have a track record for excellence and have produced many legendary people in the military sector.
