Top 6 Tips: Surviving Deployment for Military Spouses

Surviving Deployment

February 20, 2017, by Anna Brecken – Entering military service is being selfless and accepting all the risk along with the honor you can bring to your country. However, risks and reputation are not the only things that you may experience. You may face emotional problems when leaving your loved ones behind. Surviving deployment and the emotional pain that goes with it can be hard. The military service lasts for years or sometimes for a lifetime but these six tips exist to help you cope. You have to be able to overcome these challenges to be able to spend at least few days or weeks with your family before having to go back to service again.

Prepare with the List of Valuable Contacts

Not everyone you know is needed for you to reach. Before going in service, make a list of contacts. These connections are considered as your first circle. They could be your parents, spouse, and close friends. In the case of emergencies, they are the people who are on the top list to be notified and be updated. It can also serve as a motivation for you to survive.

Manage Your Communication Expectations

Military service is not easy. You should expect that you cannot talk to your loved ones every day. The communication rate is low since you are given a fixed time to talk. However, try to be a little consistent with your call schedule. They will have an idea when and what time you have the availability to call.

Engage with Babysitters

Leaving your family behind for your country is not easy. That is why you need the help of other people. Consider finding a reliable babysitter to help your wife with the baby. If it is not easy for you to leave, then it isn’t also easy for your wife to be left behind. She’ll probably undergo an emotional process. A babysitter will help with your kid/s while giving some space to your wife’s coping period.

Attend Your Pre-deployment Meeting

To avoid future complications, you must attend your pre-deployment meeting. It is an advantage to you because it will promote awareness for yourself about the nature of the mission you will be deployed to. In going to military service, you cannot go into battle without the necessary precaution, or you’ll end up attracting death to fetch you. Pre-deployment will help you know the do’s and don’ts and some other necessary updates. Hearing the information on the first-hand basis is better than hearing it from just someone.

Prepare the Emotional Challenges

Again, entering military service is not easy. Prepare yourself for the emotional challenges. The truth about these emotional problems is that you will never know how it feels until you are there. The best preparation for this is to become mentally ready. Whenever your emotion starts to kick in, you can defend yourself by encouraging yourself. Whenever you are sad, always remember what fairytales tell little kids; “think happy thoughts!”

Send Care Packages

Along with your necessary things, you should also pack supplements that may help you along the way. Include Nootropics in your bag. It can help you to boost your mood whenever you feel down. It is proven to be effective, and it will help in pain relief as well. You’ll never know if things get unwell, so you better be prepared. It also helps your brain activity and will make you active and alert. In military service, it is always important that you stay alerted all the time. You should survive for your country and most importantly, for the people waiting for you to come home.

Author bio: Anna Brecken is a writer for NootropicNation. She has extensive knowledge of Nootropics. She also writes for several other supplement and brain enhancement websites.
