National Army Museum One of Top America 250 Destinations

JUNE 18, 2026 — Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday surrounded by some of the rarest pieces of history from the Revolutionary War and the stories of our nation’s first veterans.

The award-winning National Museum of the United States Army, located minutes from I-95, just 30 minutes south of Washington, D.C., currently features one of the finest collections of period artifacts on public display and a new augmented reality exhibition using high-tech recreations of the moments that forged American democracy.

The Museum offers an indoor escape from the summer heat with on-site dining, shopping and free admission and parking.

American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition
The Museum’s newest addition is American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition, produced by French technology company, Histovery, and presented by The Army Historical Foundation. The family-friendly experience uses augmented reality and portable HistoPad tablets to drop visitors into 360-degree realistic recreations of key moments around America’s founding. Visitors also use their tablets to travel across centuries, comparing scenes of the Revolution to what these sites look like today. Included with the Museum’s free admission. Open Tuesday – Sunday.

CALL TO Arms: The Soldier and the Revolutionary War
A special exhibit open through June 2027, CALL TO Arms is a one-of-a-kind exhibition featuring rare Revolutionary War artifacts from the original colonies, England, France and Canada—brought to life by stunningly realistic cast figures. Artifacts include an engraved pocket watch given by General George Washington to the Marquis de Lafeyette after the British surrender, one of the last remaining complete Loyalist uniforms, and a unit flag carried at the Battle of Yorktown by the nation’s first African American Soldiers. Included with the Museum’s free admission. Open daily.

The primary galleries cover more than 250 years of American history through Soldier stories, invaluable artifacts and engaging interactives. The Museum also offers virtual and in-person educational programs, including family activities, history talks and book discussions. Check the Museum’s online events calendar for the latest.
