Coast Guard Barque Eagle to Visit San Juan for Public Tours

JUNE 11, 2024 — The U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle (WIX 327) is scheduled to arrive in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Friday, June 14th, at 10 a.m., and will be open for free public tours through Sunday.

The Eagle is scheduled to moor at Pier 3 in Old San Juan, where it will begin hosting public tours in the afternoon.

“We are thrilled for Eagle’s visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and look forward to people seeing the ship’s arrival in San Juan Harbor,” said Capt. Jessica Rozzi-Ochs Coast Guard Barque Eagle’s commanding officer. “We are proud to continue our long-standing tradition of sharing the history and heritage of Eagle and the Coast Guard with the people of Puerto Rico.”

Tours are scheduled to be available the following dates and times:

  • Friday (1 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Saturday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Sunday (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Known as “America’s Tall Ship,” Eagle is a 295-foot, three-masted barque used as a training vessel for future officers of the United States Coast Guard.

It is the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes and the only active square-rigger in U.S. government service.

While the primary mission is training the cadets, the ship also performs a public relations role for the Coast Guard and the United States, making calls at foreign ports as a goodwill ambassador.

During this year’s cruise, Eagle will leverage its unique ability to foster international relations with critical partners throughout the Americas.

For continuous updates about Eagle to include port cities, tour schedules, current events, and photographs of cadets and active-duty crew members, you can follow the cutter’s Facebook page here and Instagram feed here.
