Continuing Service: DHS Seeks Veterans for Careers Across the Department

MAY 3, 2019 – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in partnership with the Solider for Life – Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) is set to host a veterans recruiting and hiring event at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Community Center on May 9, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Candidates will have the opportunity to talk with onsite recruiters and hiring managers to learn more about current job opportunities.

DHS is looking to fill positions in mission-critical and support occupations across DHS, including:

  • Law Enforcement (Physical Security/Police Officer/Sector Enforcement/Investigations)
  • Business Operations (Human Resources/Program Analysis/Public Affairs)
  • Budget/Finance/Accounting/Contracting
  • Information Technology (Cybersecurity/Network)
  • Intelligence Analysis

With five distinct mission areas related to securing the homeland, DHS maximizes the skills and training veterans have acquired while serving, and allows them to continue their commitment to serve and protect the nation.

“Veterans make really great candidates for a number of positions at DHS,” said Sharon Wong, Executive Director, Strategic Recruitment, Diversity and Inclusion, DHS.

“We recognize that those who have served in the military often have the skills and dedication necessary to achieve success at DHS, and it is our goal to harness that talent,” she continued.

Veterans and transitioning service members interested in attending this event do not need to pre-register, but are advised to bring proper identification, a current federal resume, and appropriate veteran documents (DD-214), if applicable.
