What started with just ten B&Bs participating has grown to more than 400 inns across 40 states and Canada this year.
Bed and breakfast innkeepers wanted a way to expand their reach as well as say thank you to those who serve. They developed a free room program that has grown exponentially.
Each bed and breakfast inn is offering a free room to Veterans in honor of Veterans Day on November 11. The free room is available for November 10 at participating B&B inns around the country.
Some inns were able to offer multiple rooms for free for Veterans whereas others were only able to give up one room. However, unlike a hotel that typically has hundreds of rooms available on any given night, a B&B is a smaller operation. Some only have a handful of rooms available. To give up one room for free is a sacrifice of profits. But many innkeepers agree that their sacrifice is nothing compared to that of our Veterans.
Several of the innkeepers participating in the program are Veterans themselves and anxious to say thank you to others who have served. They see this program as a small way to say thank you to a military family who has made sacrifices while serving in our military.
In order to take advantage of the offer, Veterans should visit the B&Bs for Vets page to view a list of participating locations.
A call should be placed to the location of choice and the caller should state he is calling about the B&Bs for Vets program. If the inn still has rooms in the program available, it will be booked at no charge to the Veteran.
The page is also updated to reflect the inns that have already booked their free rooms. Proper military identification should be shown upon arrival at the B&B.
