MARCH 6, 2017 – The PGA TOUR’s signature event, THE PLAYERS Championship, offers all active duty, retired and reserve military personnel and their dependents with FREE admission to the tournament (May 9 – 14, 2017) in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
That’s not all. Here’s a list of military-specific activities taking place throughout the week:
· Military Appreciation Day: THE PLAYERS Championship honors the military with a ceremony on Tuesday, May 9th where GRAMMY® nominated artist Sam Hunt will perform a special performance.
· Birdies for the Brave® Patriots’ Outpost: Throughout the tournament week, all active military members, veterans and their dependents will have access to an exclusive hospitality tent which offers complimentary food, beverages and activities.
· Military Job Fair at THE PLAYERS: In partnership with the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition, the sixth annual Military Job Fair is free and open to military personnel, veterans and military spouses who are seeking employment. There will be free career counseling, resume-writing assistance and information on local educational institutions.
· Operation Shower: In partnership with THE PLAYERS, Birdies for the Brave® will host a group baby shower for 40 military moms-to-be. The event will feature the Operation Shower’s signature Shower-In-A-Box – gifts of high-quality products for moms and babies.
This is a great activity for those in the military looking to travel – and save some money. Northeast Florida also offers a unique experience for everyone. Just a few miles away, travelers can visit St. Augustine (just celebrated its 450th anniversary in 2015), the nation’s most historic city, including popular attractions such as the historic Lighthouse, Castillo de San Marcos, and Pirates Museum.
