JUNE 20, 2023 – The Space Force is implementing new performance evaluation reports for officers and modifying existing evaluations for guardians. The U.S. Space Force is implementing Officer Performance Report static close out dates (SCODs) and modifying SCODs for Enlisted Performance Reports. These changes are effective for officers in the grades of O-1 to O-6 and all enlisted Guardians.
Transitioning from non-standardized annual OPR closeout policies for officers to SCODs increases equity at performance boards and other development and talent management processes, and ensures current performance is captured in advance of promotion boards.
Modifying EPR SCODs will ensure enlisted Guardians’ records and performance are documented in time for scheduled Space Force promotion boards and other talent management processes.
Predictability of evaluations for all Guardians will also help reduce the administrative burden of evaluation tracking and timing with consistent timelines throughout the year.
Officers will transition to SCODs based on the close-out date of their previous OPR to ensure all first SCOD reports for each respective grade cover a minimum reporting period of five months.
Guidance for O1-O2
If previous close out date was 31 Jul 22 or earlier, next OPR will close 31 May 23.
If previous close out date was between 1 Aug 22 – 31 May 23, next OPR will close 31 Oct 23.
Guidance for O3-O5
If previous close out date was 31 Aug 22 or earlier, next OPR will close 30 Jun 23.
If previous close out date was between 1 Sep 22 – 30 Jun 23, next OPR will close 30 Nov 23.
Guidance for O6
If previous close out date was 31 Dec 22 or earlier, next OPR will close 31 Oct 23.
If previous close out date was between 1 Jan 23 – 31 Oct 23, next OPR will close 30 Apr 24.
The modifications to enlisted evaluation SCODs will be effective immediately, regardless of the close out date of the previous EPR.
Spc4 and below, Sgts, Sgt Selects, TSgts, and TSgt selects will have an EPR static close out date of Jan 31, 2024.
MSgts, MSgt selects, SMSgts, and SMSgt selects will have an EPR SCOD of July 31, 2023.
CMSgts and CMSgt selects will have an EPR SCOD of May 31, 2024.
