Recruiting Numbers Still Going Strong

WASHINGTON, May 22, 2012 – All of the active components and five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their fiscal 2012 recruiting goals through April, Pentagon officials announced today.

Here are the active components’ accession numbers for the first seven months of the fiscal year that began Oct. 1:

  • Army: 32,711 accessions, 101 percent of its goal of 32,500;
  • Navy: 18,196 accessions, 100 of its goal of 18,196;
  • Marine Corps: 12,225 accessions, 100 percent of its goal of 12,186;
  • Air Force: –16,309 accessions, 100 percent of its goal of 16,309.

The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force all exhibited strong retention through the first seven months of fiscal 2012, officials said.

Here are the reserve-component accessions through April:

  • Army National Guard: 28,634 accessions, with 95 percent of its goal of 30,168;
  • Army Reserve: 16,436 accessions, with 105 percent of its goal of 15,623;
  • Navy Reserve: 4,418 accessions, with 100 percent of its goal of 4,418;
  • Marine Corps Reserve: – 5,096 accessions, with 105 percent of its goal of 4,851;
  • Air National Guard: – 4,893 accessions, with 100 of its goal of 4,879;
  • Air Force Reserve – 5,013 accessions, with 100 percent of its goal of 5,013.

All reserve components are on target to achieve their fiscal year attrition goals.
