NAVSUP GLS and NAVSUP BSC Roll Out Enhanced “One Touch” Website

"One Touch" website

MARCH 18, 2016, SAN DIEGO (NNS) – In February, Navy Supply Systems Command Business Systems Center (NAVSUP BSC) and Navy Supply Systems Command Global Logistics Support (NAVSUP GLS) completed the first complete technical refresh to the “One Touch” website since its inception in 2002.

The changes that took more than a year to complete provide logisticians with an easier, faster, more modern, and safer way to order material and access supply information found throughout Navy, Marine Corps, Defense Logistics Agency, and commercial websites and data systems.

What takes seconds to do with a single action in One Touch, would take minutes or hours if users had to separately search the 27 systems that One Touch talks to. These critical systems include Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Defense Logistics Agency Transaction Services, the Logistics Data Gateway, FEDEX, UPS, the Standard Procurement System and the Navy Priority Material Office’s new casualty reporting (CASREP) expediting tool called PRIME.

In the updated system roll out, all the powerful tools in One Touch were improved. To make searching easier, the team implemented a new universal search bar to allow users to query a stock or requisition number from any page. Supply and shipment status queries are now combined to automatically return all information in one rather than two searches. New intuitive dashboard tools and information widgets improve user collaboration and provide better visibility and information sharing. Additionally, powerful batch queries that can retrieve information now run faster and email results for hundreds of items at once.

“Kudos to the NAVSUP BSC team and GLS Program Office, for their planning and execution on the delivery of the new One Touch,” said Rear Adm. James McNeal, commander, NAVSUP Global Logistics Support. “They collectively did a great job of working with customers to identify what they needed, and then pulled all the support together to make this happen. This is the culmination of a long effort to build on the capabilities of a great system that enables the supply community to better support the fleet every day.”

Since “go live” of the updated system in February, more than 15,000 Sailors, Marines, Department of Defense civilians, and government contractors worldwide have used the new and improved One Touch for logistics. From day one of the roll out Sailors used One Touch to process their Material Obligation Validation (MOV) documents. Marines accessed their Master Data Repository to see asset information. Users also requested assistance directly from the Navy Global Logistics Support Center and tracked those actions in One Touch and ran “fire and forget” batch queries for more than 499,000 stock numbers and requisitions.

“Logisticians rely on analyzing consolidated supply information from many different systems. One Touch has made it quicker and easier for them to get that information,” said Michael Zabarouskas, NAVSUP GLS One Touch manager. “In FY15 alone the system helped save customers more than 225,000 hours of data gathering wait time. The new One Touch powerful logistics search engine continues to deliver with faster and more informative results.”

Although the site was primarily designed to improve security by countering potential cyber threats, the NAVSUP BSC development team took the opportunity and updated the look, feel and the user experience in One Touch. Now even easier to navigate and understand, One Touch enables new users to learn faster and quickly become productive sooner. New “How-To” videos, accessed through the website walk users through both the basics and more advanced and powerful supply functions in One Touch.
