Holiday Festivities and Revolutionary War Treasures Await

NOVEMBER 25, 2025 – The National Museum of the United States Army and The Army Historical Foundation have added to their seasonal calendars as the Museum continues its exhibition of one of today’s most impressive collections of American Revolutionary artifacts. The Museum is open daily with free admission and parking and is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days.

CALL TO Arms: The Soldier and the Revolutionary War
Open daily with free admission, this special exhibition commemorates the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday and the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The exhibit features firsthand accounts of those who fought in the Revolutionary War and dozens of period artifacts, including a pair of General George Washington’s pistols, the original flag of the 1st Rhode Island Regiment carried by the Army’s first African American Soldiers, the gold pocket watch that Washington presented to Maj. Gen. Marquis de Lafayette, and the only complete Loyalist uniform in existence.

Virginia 250 Passport Program:
Visit the Museum and collect a stamp for your commemorative booklet highlighting 70 museums and historic sites across the commonwealth as part of the America 250 anniversary.

Seasonal Activities and Special Events
Seasonal Story Time: Join a Museum educator for a read-aloud story followed by a fun craft or activity.

Greeting Card Activity: Create your own greeting card for special delivery to Soldiers and veterans over the holidays.

The Museum Store and Cafe are open daily, offering locals and out-of-town visitors an inspiring destination to visit and shop for unique gifts, memorabilia and apparel that support the Museum.

Army v. Navy 5K & Toys for Tots – December 6, 7–9 a.m.:
The Army Historical Foundation’s second annual Army v. Navy 5K, proudly supported by Walmart, will honor both services’ 250th anniversaries, complete with a special finisher cookie for all runners. The event will also include an official Toys for Tots collection by the Marine Corps Reserve, featuring Santa, hot cocoa, cookies, and toy drop-offs for families in need.

Army v. Navy Game Day – December 13, 10:00 a.m.:
Celebrate game day with The Army Historical Foundation’s festive outdoor tailgate at the Museum beginning at 10 a.m., featuring live drumline performances, Army and Navy reenactors, outdoor games, veteran resource organizations, and food and drinks for purchase. The tailgate will also include appearances from Santa Claus, the Washington Nationals’ George Washington racing president, and AUSA’s Sergeant R. Hero mascot, along with free winter beanies for attendees. The annual Watch Party will follow inside the Museum’s grand lobby, where guests can enjoy the game kickoff at 3 p.m.
