MAY 13, 2016, WASHINGTON (NNS) – If you’re a veteran or wounded warrior looking for a job, the Department of the Navy’s 6th Veteran and Wounded Warrior Hiring and Support Summit annual career fair is the place to be Thursday, June 2 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at the Tampa Airport-Westshore in Tampa, Florida, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Just ask Jessie Blanton, who encourages veterans in search of a post-military career to attend hiring expos like this summit in Tampa. Blanton is one of hundreds of wounded warriors and veterans working for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) who has found a meaningful career supporting the warfighters he once fought alongside. The free 2016 summit offers qualified wounded, ill, injured, transitioning service members, veterans, their spouses, family members and primary caregivers a place to explore career opportunities with numerous local and national employers, as well as participate in workshops on topics such as connecting veterans and transitioning service members to available benefits, employment resources for military spouses and caregivers and tutorials on how to use the federal government’s job application tool, USAJOBS.

Participants are encouraged to register at www.HireAVet.navy.mil, where they can provide their resumes to be matched with available jobs at the event. Walk-ins are welcome.
While not required, participants are highly encouraged to bring a copy of their resume and any other employment support documentation, such as a DD-214, Statement of Service, Schedule A, Disability Rating and/or transcripts.
The hiring fair will be led by the Department of Defense’s Hiring Heroes. Employers will be offering career opportunities as well as on-site interviews for qualified wounded, ill, injured, transitioning service members, veterans, their spouses, family members and primary caregivers.
