Calling All Runners to the 26th Annual Fort Bragg 10 Miler

SEPTEMBER 30, 2022 – Registration for the Fort Bragg 10 Miler officially kicked off on Sept. 1.

Per tradition, the race will start on Long Street near the top of Hedrick stadium at 8 a.m., Nov. 5.

“We’re really excited to have this event again this year,” said Jennifer Fayson, Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation special event coordinator. “Last year over 900 runners competed in the race and we are looking to have at least 1,000 compete this year.”

Last year’s oldest competitor was 71 years old and the youngest was 10 years old. Matt Shock took first place with a time of just 54 minutes and 21 seconds with a net pace of 5 minutes and 27 seconds per mile.

This year the cost for military members is $40 and the cost for civilians is $50. Military members include active-duty service members, retirees, reservists and national guard members. The price includes a t-shirt, a medal and snacks at the end of the run.

Runners must be at least eight years of age and unlike the monthly family 5Ks, pets are not allowed.

“Participants can also run as part of a team,” explained Fayson. “We have additional awards for best male team, best female team, best coed team and age group awards. Teams must have eight members to be considered for an award.”

The team awards are based on the average amount of time for all eight runners to complete the race. The team with the best average time wins.

Age groups are broken up by male and female and the following age groups: 12 and under, 13-15 years, 16-19 years, 20-24 years, 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years, 75-79 years, and 80 and up.

“We can’t wait to provide this great event for our service members and Families,” said Fayson. “We hope to see you out there either running or cheering Nov. 5.”

Packet pick-up will be held at the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4. Race day packet pick-up and registration are not authorized.
