Air Force Leaders Send Birthday Messages to Army

6/13/2012 – WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James Roy salute the Army on its 237th birthday June 14.

Secretary Donley wrote a letter to the secretary of the Army stating:

“Congratulations to you and all of your Soldiers as you celebrate 237 years serving our great nation. Your Soldiers continue a tradition of honor, integrity and selfless service dating back to 1775. Today, they continue to serve and uphold these most hallowed Army traditions.

“The men and women of the U.S. Air Force are proud to serve with the U.S. Army as part of the joint team providing our nation with unparalleled military capability. America’s Airmen salute you and wish you the best on your birthday.”

General Schwartz wrote a letter to the chief of staff of the Army stating:

“Happy birthday to the U.S. Army, and best wishes to you and all of our nation’s soldiers. We celebrate 237 years of noble service and sacrifice to our country and providing dominant land power for America. Today’s Soldiers continue to serve with distinction, honoring the U.S. Army’s most hallowed traditions.

“The men and women of the U.S. Air Force are proud to serve with the U.S. Army in defending our Nation’s freedoms and in protecting our way of life. America’s Airmen salute you.”

Chief Roy wrote a letter to the sergeant major of the Army stating:

“I’m writing to extend sincere wishes for a Happy birthday to the U.S. Army. Here’s to 237 years of outstanding service to our great nation!

“There are few acts more noble then putting country before self, and I am extremely proud to serve alongside every U.S. Soldier. From the newest recruits to the most respected senior leaders, today’s Soldiers exemplify the Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage.

“As our civilian leaders stress the importance of working as a joint team to meet today’s military challenges, we continue to be proud and honored to serve with America’s Soldiers. These men and women make excellent partners in the joint fight, remaining highly motivated, dedicated and ready to answer our nation’s call.

“On behalf of every Airman, we wish you all the best as you celebrate this milestone. We look forward to serving with you for many years to follow.”
