Top 5 Auto Insurance Discounts for Active Duty Military Members

OCTOBER 24, 2023 – Active duty military members face different challenges and financial obligations like auto insurance. Fortunately, there’s a bright side in that many vehicle insurance firms offer special discounts and advantages to help military personnel lower down their auto insurance bills. In this blog, we will explore the top auto insurance discounts for active military personnel.

1.    Military Service Discount

The military service discount is a unique discount, similar to a special money saving offer that many car insurance companies offer to soldiers, airmen, marines, coast guards, and others. Every member of the military, regardless of the branch, can access it. These discounts can be pretty cool since they significantly reduce the amount of money you need to pay for your car insurance. However, what you save may vary, but is normally at 5% to 15% off the insurance price.

2.    Deployment Discount

If you’re sent overseas for military services, you might not necessarily be driving your car at home. A number of car insurance companies understand this, and they offer something called a “deployment discount.” This means that you can drop your car insurance or just freeze it while you’re gone to save you some money during the period you are deployed.

3.    Multi-Car Discounts

Multi-car discounts are a great way to save for auto insurance when you have more than one car at home. These discounts offer you a reduced rate per policy for each car. Hence, if you or other members of your family who are active duty military persons have more than one car, this can be very lucrative. It makes an excellent deal for the military families since it’s similar to a bulk discount in the sense that the more cars one can add to the same company as a whole will save the person more money on the insurance premium.

4.    Safe-Driving Discounts

Safe driving discounts are a small incentive for being a good driver. Regardless of your military status, always drive carefully and avoid accidents and violations. However, for military people, the discounts can even be higher. Insurance companies give these as a kind of gratitude to people who ensure they are making the roads safer. This means that every day you drive without any accidents or infringements, the more money you save on insurance every year.

5.    Pay-Per-Mile Insurance

Pay-per-mile Insurance is a special kind of auto insurance that is very helpful for the military people who are not using their cars frequently. Unlike the usual fixed amount every month, the cost of the insurance depends on how many miles you travel. Less you drive, less you pay- it’s as simple as that. This is very economical, especially if one is away on duty most of the time or the car is parked most of the time. Thus, it could be considered as a “pay as you go” car insurance plan that allows you to retain some extra money in your pocket for long drives.

Endnote

Auto insurance is compulsory, but it’s not a must for active military personnel to spend fortunes. By taking advantage of available insurance discounts and benefits, you can significantly lower your premiums and yet ensure that you and your car are covered. Compare quotes from different insurers and do not be afraid to ask whether these discounts are available for you. Tailor your policy to meet your unique needs in order to get the best coverage but at low costs. With proper insurance, you will drive with confidence and in your budget.
