Flight Pay

Enlisted members who are on flying status receive monthly flight pay. There are two kinds of flight pay: Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay, and Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay.

The Air Force and Navy pay enlisted members Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay, and the Army, Marines, and Coast Guard pay Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay.

The amount of pay received for Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay is based upon years of aviation service, not years of military service. The amount of pay for Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay is based upon rank.

If you are deemed a “Career Enlisted Flyer” by your service branch, you may be eligible for Career Enlisted Flyer Incentive Pay (CEFIP).

Many Career Enlisted Flyers are eligible for Career Enlisted Flyer Incentive Pay (CEFIP). Non-pilots aboard military aircraft who are not already drawing flight pay qualify for aircrew pay from $150 to $400 a month. Officer aviators who remain on Active Duty after their initial service commitment ends are eligible for up to $12,000 extra per year.

Eligibility

An eligible Navy or Air Force career enlisted flyer must perform operational flying duties for 6 of the first 10, 9 of the first 15, and 14 of the first 20 years of aviation service, to be eligible for continuous monthly incentive pay under this section.

Note: CEFIP is not transferable between services. For example if you transfer from the Navy to another service you will not continue to receive CEFIP.

Navy and Air Force Reserve Component Members may be eligible for CEFIP, but they earn incentive pay at 1/30 of that for active duty members.

The Army, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, do not currently offer career enlisted flight incentive pay. Flight pay for these services is known as Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay, which is paid as follows:

For the Army, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, enlisted flight pay is as follows:
Rank Monthly Flight Pay
E-9 $240
E-8 $240
E-7 $240
E-6 $215
E-5 $190
E-4 $165
