ROTC Scholarship Programs

The Army ROTC Scholarship Programs provide financial assistance for the education and training of highly qualified and motivated young men and women who desire to be commissioned as officers in the Army after graduation from college. Army ROTC is the single largest source of scholarship money in the United States. Each year, the Army awards millions of dollars in scholarships to thousands of deserving students nationwide.

The Army awards scholarships based on applicant merit, not on financial need. Four-, three-, and two-year scholarships are available to qualified students.

The Army ROTC Four-Year Scholarship Program gives students who have graduated from high school the opportunity to attend college and also earn a commission through participation in the ROTC scholarship program.

The Army ROTC Green to Gold Programs provide selected active duty enlisted members of the Army an opportunity to complete their baccalaureate degree requirements and obtain a commission through participation in the ROTC programs.

Army ROTC Scholarships
Whether you’re a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s merit and grades, not financial need.

Army ROTC scholarships are valuable in many ways:

  • Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
  • Scholarship amounts vary.
  • Additional allowances pay for books and fees

Living Expenses
Army ROTC scholarships also provide monthly living allowances for each school year. You can earn certain amounts depending on your level in the Army ROTC curriculum:

  • 1st year – $250 per month
  • 2nd year – $300 per month
  • 3rd year – $350 per month
  • 4th year – $400 per month

This allowance is also available to all non-scholarship Cadets enrolled in the Army ROTC Advanced Course (3rd and 4th year).

See the ROTC FAQ page for additional information regarding ROTC scholarships.

High school seniors may be awarded either a four- or three-year advanced designee scholarship. College freshmen and sophomores can apply for either a three- or two-year scholarship respectively.
