Military Police UT

MILITARY POLICE UNIT TRAINING

Watch the 327th Military Police Batallion from Arlington Heights, IL. practice their policing skills during an Army Reserve Unit Training.

0700 | SIGN IN AND FORMATION
This is the first order of business at a Unit Training. It’s when the Army Reserve Soldiers get their orders and find out what they’ll be doing. Once they sign in, they’ll fall into formation and get their schedule for the Unit Training.

0730 | PMCS”MOTOR POOL
Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services. Keeping all the vehicles in good, working order is extremely important at the 327th. These are the vehicles they’ll use for everything from picking up supplies to moving the entire 327th Battalion.

0800 | OCIE”FIELD EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment Inspection. Everything you use in the Army Reserve, the Army provides. In some instances, your life will depend on it. That’s why it’s important to inventory and inspect all of your equipment during Unit Training.

0900 | SET UP AND SERVICE FIELD KITCHEN
Even though the 327th is made up primarily of Military Police and Corrections Officers, when they’re training or getting mobilized, they have to eat. Soldiers manning a mobile field kitchen make this happen. That’s why it’s important to make sure that the equipment is clean and in working order.

LUNCH
Each day the Army Reserve Soldiers get an hour-long break for lunch.

1300 | PROCESS PRISONER INTO CONFINEMENT FACILITY
Even though some of the training take place in the classroom, that doesn’t mean it’s all books and note taking. As one Soldier tells us, classes can be very physical and demanding.

1400 | CLASSROOM”FINGERPRINT IMPRESSIONS
One of the responsibilities of a Military Police or Corrections Officer is to process prisoners. Army Reserve Soldiers take classes during the weekend to learn how to do this.

1500 | 100 PERCENT SENSITIVE ITEM INVENTORY”WEAPONS
These weapons aren’t only for practice, they’re what the 327th would use if they were mobilized. It’s important to inventory them once a month during each training weekend.

1700 | END FORMATION”DAY ONE
So ends the first day of the training weekend and the Army Reserve Soldiers are dismissed and head home. Tomorrow is another big day because on top of the training scheduled, the 327th will be taking their semi-annual Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT).

0700 | SIGN IN AND FORMATION
The first day is over and the Army Reserve Soldiers are showing up for the second day in their physical fitness uniforms. That’s because today, on top of their other duties, they’ll be taking their semi-annual Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT).

0730 | PHYSICAL TRAINING
Keeping in good physical shape is as important in the Army Reserve as it is in the full-time Army. Even though you only train once a month, you’re expected to maintain a high level of fitness.

0930 | PMCS”M-16 RIFLE
The M-16 is the main weapon used at the 327th.That’s why it’s important to make sure that they are maintained on a regular basis. Army Reserve Soldiers are expected to know how to take apart, clean and reassemble their weapon and make sure it is in perfect working order.

1100 | 10 PERCENT CYCLIC EQUIPMENT INVENTORY
Everything at an Army Reserve Center needs to be maintained and inventoried on a regular basis. From weapons to canteens, everything that’s important to a Soldier in the Army Reserve needs to be accounted for. But because there is so much to check, it’s done 10 percent at a time during each training weekend.

LUNCH
Each day the Army Reserve Soldiers get an hour-long break for lunch.

1300 | FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE
Soldiers in the Army Reserve are expected to be able to serve and perform just like full-time Soldiers. That’s why it’s important to practice what you learn during Field Training Exercises. Here, some Army Reserve Soldiers train on how to approach and secure an abandoned building.

1400 | RANGE QUALIFICATION
A rifle is a Soldier’s most important tool. Because a rifle is not used everyday, it is important to practice with it during training weekends. Range Qualification keeps a Soldier’s skills sharp and training complete.

1530 | CONDUCT RISK ANALYSIS
Since the 327th is a Military Police Battalion, its important to be able to look at a situation and analyze it’s potential for danger. While they may never be in a dangerous situation, their job requires that they still know this skill.

1700 | FINAL FORMATION”DISMISSAL FROM TRAINING
It’s all over, until next month, and the Army Reserve Soldiers of the 327th Military Police Battalion are dismissed and head home. As a Soldier in the Army Reserve you still keep your day job, but you also get the satisfaction of knowing that you are serving your country.
