Space Force Debuts New Formal Ceremonial Uniform

AUGUST 24, 2026 – The U.S. Space Force Honor Guard updated their ceremonial service dress uniform recently and will debut the new ensemble at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix Event in Washington, D.C., Aug. 23, 2026.

Designed to replace the modified U.S. Air Force service uniform Space Force Guardians have worn since the branch was first established in 2019, the updated attire is the latest step the force has taken in establishing a unique culture and visual identity.

“The public will now be able to immediately recognize us as Guardians and key members of America’s warfighting capabilities,” shared Chief Master Sgt. Ross Koehler, senior enlisted leader for the USSF Honor Guard.

The new design aims to preserve the core identity of the Space Force and features colors from the force’s service flag, Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform name tape and their Class A uniform.

“Having a dedicated ceremonial uniform ensures that our Guardians present a unified, unmistakable presence during high visibility global missions,” shared Koehler. “The updated uniform reflects the force’s evolving individual culture and pride in those who wear it.”

Spectators will notice key differences between the standard service dress and the ceremonial uniform, especially with the inclusion of the distinct Space Force blue belt, cap, and rope over the left shoulder, making the uniform stand out to the public.

“The Space Force is honored to share a history with the Air Force, but our mission to the space domain is concentrated and strategic,” shared Koehler, “It requires further establishing a distinct identity.”

As the unveiling approaches, junior Guardians are reeling with excitement at the opportunity to show off the new garb.

“We have had a lot of firsts here,” shared Spc. 3 Amelia Olsen, ceremonial guardsmen with the USSF Honor Guard. “But this debut feels extra special because it lays out the foundation for us going forward, and I’m honored to be a part of this moment in history.”

The guidance for the new uniform was released Jan. 13, 2026, and took eight months for the Honor Guard to make finishing touches to their ceremonial uniform.

“There have been many adjustments that we have seen on paper over the past several months,” Olsen said. “To be able to see it, wear it and finally be able to show it to the public now feels rewarding.”

As they step onto the Freedom 250 Grand Prix stage, the Space Force Honor Guard is poised to deliver its signature standard of excellence and ceremonial honors in their long-anticipated new threads.
