CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. Jan. 02, 2014 – The 2013 Combined Federal Campaign extended the fundraising deadline to Jan. 15 and will continue accepting pledges from federal employees, postal and military donors.
“It was extended due to the government shutdown which halted all CFC operations from Oct. 9 to 16,” said Theodore Devlin, assistant chief of staff for Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
According to the United States Office of Personnel Management, the mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
“It is the only sanctioned fund raising event for federal employees. It has been in operation for over 46 years and is the world’s largest annual workplace charity campaign and provides an opportunity for federal employees to improve the quality of life for those in need,” said Devlin.
More than 1,600 nonprofit organizations are available like the American Red Cross, Wounded Warrior Project and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
“Hopefully, more employees will have an opportunity to contribute to their favorite charities,” Devlin expressed.
To contribute to this year’s campaign, donate cash or check, or pledge to a monthly payroll deduction contact a unit representative for pledge forms and a catalog of charities.
The deadline to contribute via MyPay is midnight Jan. 6, 2014.
