Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman (SWCC)

Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman (SWCC, prounounced “swick”) Teams are superbly trained in all environments, and are masters of maritime Special Operations. SWCC Teams are required to utilize a combination of specialized training in navigation, radio communications, engineering, weapons, parachuting, first aid, and tactics in completion of Special Operation missions worldwide. Ready for a challenge and adventure? SWCC training gives students challenging training in difficult environments and allows them the opportunity to develop stamina and leadership.

Job Description

As a Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman you will take part in direct action and unconventional warfare or conduct special reconnaissance and counterterrorism missions. You will also provide internal defense in foreign regions and offer dedicated support to your Special Operations counterparts. As a SWCC you will work closely with other Special Ops units and you must be the ultimate team player.

Specific Responsibilities

Insert and extract Navy SEALs and other Special Operations personnel from a variety of Naval Surface Warfare vessels. Collect important data about enemy military installations and shipping traffic in coastal areas. Assist other military and civilian law enforcement agencies. As a SWCC, you will be called upon by your fellow Special Operations counterparts for support anywhere, anytime.

As SWCC you may receive specialized training in such areas as:

  • Maritime navigation
  • Radio communications
  • Boat/propulsion systems engineering
  • Parachute and helicopter operations


Qualifications

Only men are eligible to apply for the SWCC program.

To qualify as a Navy SWCC you must meet the following requirements:

  • Meet specific eyesight requirements: 20/40 best eye; 20/70 worst eye; correctable to 20/25 with no color blindness
  • Meet the minimum Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score: AR+VE=103, MC=51
  • Be 30 years old or younger
  • Be a U.S. citizen


You must also complete the Physical Screening Test Requirements:

  • Swim 500 yards within 13 minutes
  • Rest 10 minutes
  • 42 push-ups within 2 minutes
  • Rest 2 minutes
  • 50 sit-ups within 2 minutes
  • Rest 2 minutes
  • 6 pull-ups (no time limit)
  • Rest 10 minutes
  • 1.5 mile run within 12 minutes 30 seconds
  • Pass a Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL BUD/S physical fitness screening test in Boot Camp and in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) in order to qualify


  • Navy Seals (Sea, Air & Land)
  • Aviation Rescue Swimmer (AIRR)
  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician
  • Navy Diver
