The
MilitarySpot.com Preparedness Project seeks to facilitate an open
discussion about preparedness issues facing Americans in the event of a
national calamity. A national calamity is defined for this purpose as a
catastrophic event that threatens or compromises the American way of
life as we know it today. Catastrophic events could include, but are not
limited to, nuclear, biological, or chemical attacks, economic collapse,
pandemics, World War III, widespread natural disasters, severe environmental
changes, asteroid impacts, etc. We hope and pray that such events are
never visited upon the United States of America. However, recent events
have illustrated that America is a target, and is at risk. The end goal
of the Preparedness Project is to make America stronger by making each
American stronger, so that in the event of a national calamity, Americans
will be able to survive the event, effectively respond to the crisis, and ultimately
restore the American way of life as we know it today.
Technology is giving mankind new ways to terrorize and disrupt his
fellow mankind. We
live in an age where hijackers armed only with box cutters can storm
airliners, kill thousands of America's brightest financial minds, and
cause a trillion dollars worth of damage to the American economy. We
live in an age where where a group of terrorists, armed with man-pack
nuclear weapons, can infiltrate America's borders or ports and
detonate nuclear bombs in cities across America. In fact, one nuclear
weapon could be enough to cause an economic shutdown. Imagine a nuclear
bomb detonating in New York City, and Al Qaeda announcing they have
bombs on a countdown ready to go off in America's thirty largest cities.
But nuclear attacks are not America's only threat. The unexpected nature
of the 9/11 attacks illustrate there are many other unforeseen
threats as well. For example, weeks after the 9/11 attacks, the U.S.
Postal Service was used as a device to disseminate anthrax. Accordingly,
a pathogen could be mailed to every address in America.
What
would you and your loved ones do, for example, if terrorists detonated
nuclear bombs in America's largest cities? Should you flee to the hills?
If so, what hills? What should you drive? Would your vehicle even start
after the electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) from a nuclear detonation. What
should you take? How should you protect yourself from anarchists? Do you
attempt to find security with others, or go solo? How would you
communicate and meet up with family members after a calamity?
There
are currently a number of organizations, including government programs
such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency
Management Agency, working on preparedness issues. While much needed, we
know of no such initiative that comprehensively prepares ordinary
patriotic Americans, both individually and collectively, to effectively
cope with national calamities.
Initially, for the Preparedness Project, we envision an open discourse
on the subject. A special forum has been created for this purpose. We
invite those interested in preparedness issues to join in the
discussion. You can discuss anything related to preparedness issues in
this forum. For example: How do you protect your vehicle from EMP? Where
can you find water in your house in the event of an emergency (your
water heater)? How can you communicate in an emergency (CB radio, HAM radio, or other
means)? MilitarySpot.com plans to publish relevant information derived
from these discussions.
Ultimately for the project we envision a nationwide organization of
members who are ready in the event of a national emergency - ready both
personally and for the nation. We envision an online presence where
members can communicate and coordinate with each other about their
preparedness plans. We hope that individuals who are especially
interested in this subject will step forward to help find, collect,
develop, organize and disseminate information.
What
the Preparedness Project is Not
The
Preparedness Project is not a Survivalist Movement, per se, in that we
encourage people to abandon their jobs and move to the hills. The
Preparedness Project IS a survivor movement! The Preparedness
Project is not a Patriot Movement, in the general sense where members
organize into armed militias because they have concerns about the U.S.
Government. The Preparedness Project IS a patriotic movement! The
Preparedness Project will not advocate initiatives that contradict U.S.
Government plans, but WILL develop plans to assist government
efforts in a national calamity. And in the event of a breakdown of
government authority, we encourage initiatives to help restore
government authority, and ultimately restore the American way of life as
we know it today.
