OCTOBER 20, 2021 – Military-Veterans Advocacy (MVA), a Louisiana-based veterans advocacy organization, is pleased to announce that MVA Chairman of the Board Commander John B. Wells, USN (ret.), as well as MVA Director of Central Pacific Islands and Agent Orange Survivors of Guam (AOSOG) founder Sgt. Brian Moyer, USMC will be speakers during the inaugural Central Florida Veterans Rally on Friday, October 22, beginning at 1 p.m. EDT at American Legion Post 347 in Lady Lake, Florida.
The public is invited to attend to learn about veteran issues and learn how they can get involved to help. You do not need to be a veteran or a family member of a veteran to attend.
“I look forward to giving an update to hundreds of veterans about our organization and the approaches we are taking to attain benefits for veterans,” Wells said about the rally. “We need the support of all citizens to ensure that these veterans receive their earned benefits.”
“We need activism from everyone; everyone needs to get involved,” Moyer said while explaining the importance of this rally. Moyer added that without grassroots organizations like AOSOG, which has become a section within MVA, he would not have had the resources to travel to Guam to find evidence of the use of chlorinated herbicides at the request of Guam and United States EPA.
MVA previously won an important landmark court case forcing the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide veterans benefits to approximately 90,000 veterans who served in the bays, harbors and territorial sea of Vietnam.
The Central Florida Veterans Rally, which had been postponed due to the pandemic, will feature several speakers that will share their stories plus a question and answer segment at the end.
Those unable to attend the event in person can watch the speeches given by Wells and Moyer on the Military-Veterans Advocacy Facebook page.
The speeches will broadcast live on the page starting at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time and will be available to view anytime afterwards on the page as well.
American Legion Post 347 is located at 699 W Lady Lake Blvd, Lady Lake, FL 32159 and the rally will begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
