May 28, 2014, New Orleans – The Marine Corps needs volunteers to support the Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force. The task force will train female Marines in ground combat arms military occupational specialty skills, and integrate them into a combat arms unit, while a dedicated research team observes the unit’s performance in an operational environment.
The GCEITF will be comprised of male and female, active and Reserve volunteers. The task force will be activated at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, in June 2014.
Marines who wish to volunteer may do so via telephone, the Manpower and Reserve Affairs website or in person during one of the recruiting briefs. Recruiting briefs will be conducted May 28 through June 9, at various bases and stations.
Male volunteers will participate only in their primary military occupational specialty. For males who do not possess a primary combat-arms MOS, the task force is recruiting from 12 other job fields as well.
