$500,000 Pledged to The Spine Foundation to Assist Military Veterans with Treatment

New Jersey Spine & Rehabilitation Pledges $500,000 to The Spine Foundation to Assist Military Veterans with Treatment for Spinal Conditions or Disorders

Pompton Lakes, NJ August 23, 2011 – Dr. Richard A. Kaul, owner of New Jersey Spine & Rehabilitation (NJSR) announced that the company has pledged $500,000 in medical services to The Spine Foundation to treat servicemen and women who have sustained spinal injuries as a result of serving in the United States military.

Medical care for military men and women is a prime topic of conversation across the political landscape; yet, the policies designed to treat our service members have stayed the same for decades, often limiting their ability to receive timely, state-of-the-art healthcare. Dr. Kaul had previously started an initiative, called Project Backbone, to provide spine care at no cost for the veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, after recognizing a high rate of musculoskeletal injuries in veterans earlier this year.

The Spine Foundation is a charitable organization that transforms lives by increasing access to the world’s most scientifically advanced spine care. It focuses on providing patients with financial support and services essential to treat spinal conditions and disorders at a location of the patient’s choice. The Spine Foundation’s primary investment priority is assisting members of the US military.

“Working with The Spine Foundation just seemed like a natural marriage. Together we will be able to treat US service members with no out of pocket cost to the patient,” Kaul said. “This is our first step in showing our unwavering gratitude for these brave men and women.”

Phil Garcia, president of The Spine Foundation said, “Through this generous donation from New Jersey Spine & Rehabilitation, The Spine Foundation will increase its ability to provide financial assistance to members of the military who are suffering from back and neck pain and may not otherwise be able to afford quality treatment.”

About New Jersey Spine & Rehabilitation
NJSR is an outpatient spine surgery facility in New Jersey that is owned and operated by Dr. Richard A. Kaul. Dr. Kaul has long been considered a pioneer in the fields of Interventional Pain Management and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. The practice was formed in 2003 and since then has successfully helped thousands of patients return to a normal life. Dr. Kaul performed one of the first outpatient lumbar fusion surgeries in New Jersey, and has taught his technique to many other surgeons across the world. NJSR continues to innovate and develop minimally invasive spine procedures, which allow a much quicker recovery and leads to significantly less post operative pain when compared to open back surgery.
