What NOT to Bring

Below is a list of items that are unauthorized to possess during Navy Basic Training. Do NOT bring or acquire any of these items during training.

  • Large cans of shaving cream (12oz. or larger)
  • All aerosol containers
  • After shave/cologne
  • Lighter fluid
  • Disposable lighters or the fluid cartridge of a Zippo lighter
  • Magazines and books that are non-Navy
  • Playing cards, dice, gambling items
  • Large bulky stationery
  • Large hair combs, afro picks, rakes, or anything made of metal
  • Glass containers
  • Mirrors
  • Double edge razors, blades
  • Tobacco related products
  • Deoderants larger than 4oz.
  • Alcohol based comfort and health items
  • Portable electronics
  • Civilian clothing
  • Cameras
  • Electric razors
  • Large hair dryers
  • Curling irons
  • Food items
  • All non-prescription drugs and medications
  • Firearms
  • Ammunition
  • Fireworks
  • Clubs, batons, etc.
  • Brass knuckles
  • All straight razors, knives, ice picks, scissors, etc.
  • Illegal drugs/narcotics or any paraphernalia
