MILITARY CHANNEL SERIES MY WAR DIARY SHOWCASES
EXCLUSIVE VIDEO FROM SOLDIERS IN MIDDLE EAST

-- Premieres Friday, November 10 at 9 PM ET/PT --

(Silver Spring, MD) – The Military Channel's new series MY WAR DIARY goes behind the lines with never-before-seen personal videos and exclusive interviews with soldiers who documented their experiences in the Middle East. Premiering the Friday before Veteran’s Day, November 10 at 9 PM ET/PT, episodes will include intense battle scenes straight from a soldier's point of view, a glimpse at military life in Iraq and Afghanistan during down time and reflections on the emotional strain of being far from home.

"Only the Military Channel can present these real moments of real people living in a war zone not seen on the nightly news," said Jane Root, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Discovery Channel, Military Channel, The Science Channel and Discovery Times Channel, U.S.  "MY WAR DIARY will give a face and name to the men and women who are serving our country overseas in unfiltered stories told by and for members of the U.S. military."

Personal camcorders capture the camaraderie among units deployed in the Middle East, including the moments rarely seen in between daily activities, IEDs, mortar attacks and convoy treks.  Other diary submissions provide an up-close view of operations with in-the-moment commentary from the soldiers themselves.  Upcoming episodes feature: Sgt. Richard Llewellyn of Albany, N.Y., who chases and captures an insurgent who shot at an American; a rap song spoof about Ramadi performed by Staff Sergeants Josh Dobbs and Matt Wright of Muncie, Ind.; the first free election day in Iraq in more than 50 years as documented by 1st Lt. Bryan Suits and Cpl. Phillip Holt of the Washington National Guard; and Sgt. Nelson Quintana of Miami, Fl., who responds to a car bomb explosion.

The videographers provide interviews that add context to how and when videos were developed, and family members recount what it meant to see such candid moments of loved ones.

Submissions are being accepted at
www.mywardiary.com and via an established hotline at 888-751-8088.

Encore episodes of MY WAR DIARY will air as part of a Veteran's Day marathon on November 11.  During Veteran's Day weekend, Military Channel will also broadcast exclusive segments with Members of Congress who previously served in the military. In each segment, Senators and Representatives from both sides of the aisle relay personal stories and salute current members of the Armed Forces.

MY WAR DIARY is produced for Discovery Channel by LMNO Productions.  For Discovery Channel, Mark Allen is the executive producer.  Eric Schotz, Bill Paolantonio and Lisa Bourgoujian serve as executive producers for LMNO.

The Military Channel brings viewers compelling, real-world stories of heroism, military strategy, technological breakthroughs and turning points in history.  The network takes viewers "behind the lines" to hear the personal stories of servicemen and women and offers in-depth explorations of military technology, battlefield strategy, aviation and history.  As the only cable network devoted to military subjects from around the globe, it also provides unique access to this world, allowing viewers to experience and understand a world full of human drama, courage, innovation and long-held traditions of the military.  For more information, visit
