Bringing viewers compelling, real-world

Inc. transitioned its Discovery Wings
Channel to the Military Channel on Monday,
January 10, 2005. The network's revamped
slate of series and specials is designed to
take viewers "behind the lines" to tell
personal stories and offer in-depth
explorations of military technology, battlefield strategy,
aviation and history.

World Premiere:

From super-computer design facilities to
liquid-metal-cooled, nuclear propulsion systems,
X-CARRIERS reveals, for the very first time, the
top-secret future of the U.S. Navy's most
advanced ships. Viewers hear in-depth interviews
with the design teams, as well as get a glimpse
of computer generated 3-D models and graphics. |
GI FACTORY
With host Kelly Perdew of The Apprentice fame, GI FACTORY takes viewers
inside the fascinating and secretive world of military equipment. Each
episode explores three factories to reveal how they make the gear, vehicles
and weapons America's fighting forces need. In addition to getting deep
into the nuts and bolts of the process, Perdew (also a West Point graduate
and Army Ranger) introduces viewers to the designers who create the
product, the engineers who test it before it goes into battle and the
hardworking folks on the factory floor who craft, shape, weld and hammer
raw materials into battle-ready systems.
Episode One World Premiere: Friday, March 24, 8 PM
In this episode of GI FACTORY, Kelly Perdew observes the process of
creating the legendary M-16 rifle at FN Manufacturing in Columbia,
S.C. Next, it's off to Scranton, Pa., where Armor Holdings
manufacturers today's state-of-the-art helmet. Last, Perdew heads
off to the Armor Holdings plant in Cincinnati, Ohio, to learn how to
"up-armor" the Humvee from the proud folks who know their work is
saving lives.
