Coast Guard Pay

The Coast Guard offers active duty and reserve Coast Guard men and women a competitive salary and an impressive package of benefits. Coast Guardsmen receive the same pay that other military members receive with the same pay grade and status.

Salaries are based on time of service, marital status, where you live and your rank. You’ll also have the chance for raises and promotions based on merit.

Enlisted personnel typically enter the Coast Guard as rank E-1 and are promoted through the ranks as E-2, E-3, etc. Officers enter the Coast Guard as O-1 and likewise work their way up as O-2, O-3, etc.

Beyond these material benefits are benefits that are invaluable. You’ll accomplish and do things you never thought possible. You’ll get to have experiences that just don’t materialize in the civilian world. You’ll learn how to lead, develop a sense of discipline and get a true understanding of the value of teamwork.

Most importantly, you’ll experience personal growth and maturity as you’re instilled with the Coast Guard core values — honor, respect, and devotion to duty.
