The Coast Guard offers active duty and reserve Coast Guard men and women a competitive salary and an impressive package of benefits. Coast Guardsmen receive the same pay that other military members receive with the same pay grade and status.
Salaries are based on time of service, marital status, where you live and your rank. You’ll also have the chance for raises and promotions based on merit.
Enlisted personnel typically enter the Coast Guard as rank E-1 and are promoted through the ranks as E-2, E-3, etc. Officers enter the Coast Guard as O-1 and likewise work their way up as O-2, O-3, etc.

Pay increases with rank and time in service. You’ll also receive a yearly cost-of-living increase. In addition to your basic military pay, you’re eligible for tax-free housing and food allowances.
