FBI Special Agent

If you are interested in becoming an FBI Agent, expect it to be unlike any other job field you have explored. It is very demanding and challenging.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) hires agents to act as the lead investigators for matters of national security for the United States of America. These workers can be called upon to perform any number of duties, ranging from field duty to research. FBI agents need previous law enforcement experience, a college education and specialized job training.

An FBI Agent is expected to uphold a wide range of responsibilities. Matters that could be dealt with in this field are Terrorism, Organized crime, Drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, Theft, and Corruption, among others.

The requirements you must obtain are very strict. You must

  • A U.S Citizen
  • be 23 or older, but not exceeding the age of 37 upon entry.
  • possess at least a four year Bachelor degree for an accredited college or institution.
  • have a minimum of 3 years work experience, and must obtain a valid U.S Drivers License.

All Special Agent trainees begin their career at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia for approximately 21 weeks of intensive training at one of the world’s finest law enforcement training facilities. During their time at the FBI Academy, trainees live on-campus and participate in a broad range of training activities.

Classroom hours are spent studying a wide variety of academic and investigative subjects. The FBI Academy curriculum also includes intensive training in physical fitness, defensive tactics, practical application exercises, and the use of firearms.
